Timber Frame Workshop 2013

We are very pleased to announce a new Timber Frame Workshop for the summer of 2013, as part of our natural building workshop program! Based on the success of last year’s class, we’ll be hosting another workshop here at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage to teach folks all about the beautiful craft of timber frame construction.

Timber Frame Workshop Details

This time around, we’re offering a 10 day course, complete with more of our popular home-cooked, delicious meals by the Milkweed Mercantile Organic Cafe, and led by Timber Framers Guild member Tom Cundiff of The Edgeworks. Our site project includes a variety of round wood and square elements, which is rather unique to our workshop offering — students will get a chance to learn a variety of layout and cutting methods, using a diverse selection of natural and sawn materials. Students will also have the opportunity to try out a wide range of hand tools, both old and new.

Experience Life in a Sustainable Community

Also unique to our workshop is, of course, the location: Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage is a growing sustainable community of 60+ people in rural Missouri, with a great range of examples of natural buildings. Students will tour completed timber frame, straw bale, and cob houses, and they’ll also have time to explore life in an intentional community complete with renewable energy systems, organic gardens, permaculture, and a host of other sustainable living models.

Apply Early and Save

We are offering early registration discounts for participants, but spaces are limited. Apply early to earn your savings, and mark your calendars — this summer’s Timber Frame Workshop promises to be a fantastic and valuable experience.

Here’s what Shand K. had to say about his 2012 Timber Frame Workshop experience: “I am so grateful to those of you in the community who genuinely are on fire to effect positive change for our nation, in its immediacy; and the planet, in the realm beyond the daily carrying of water and chopping wood.”
